Creating and Editing Content
The Website

Overview

Sawfish Media is a website for artists, designers and developers to share and get responses on their work. It is also for people who want to learn certain subjects.

Basics

Content in SM is organized in 3 different levels:

  1. SM or admins, when an admin creates content it is put in the "SM" part of a page.
  2. SM Community or users, when a user creates content it is put in the "SM Community" part of a page.
  3. Internet or links, when a admin or a user creates a link (to another websites' content such as a game) it is put in the "Internet" part of a page.

Links or content under "Internet" will not show "About the author", all other posts will. Clicking the author will take you to their profile page. Clicking a user in under comments will also take you to their profile page.

Types

  • Blog, goes under "Blogs" page
  • Tutorial, goes under "Tutorials" page
  • Game, goes under "Games" page
  • Experiment, goes under "Experiments" page
  • Illustration, goes under "Media" page
  • Graphic, goes under "Media" page
  • Animation, goes under "Media" page
Pages
There are many different pages on SM and each has a specific purpose.

Home

Shows recent, popular and best rated additions. Also displays new users and recent comments. Clicking on a user in the "New users" will take you to there profile page. Clicking on a new comment will take you to the post and the comment.

Blogs

Shows recent and all blogs under certain categories/tags. Blogs are where users write about news, events etc. And Links under Blogs are to blogs or posts off the site.

Tutorials

Shows recent and all tutorials under certain categories/tags. Tutorials are where users can "teach" other people on the site. Links under Tutorials are to tutorials off the site.

Media

Shows recent and all media under certain categories/tags. Media is where users can post their art, graphics, illustrations or animations. Links under Media can be to art, graphics, illustrations or animations off the site.

Games

Shows recent and all games under certain categories/tags. Games are where users can post their games. Links under Games are to games off the site.

Experiments

Shows recent and all experiments under certain categories/tags. Experiments are where users can post their experiments in media such as betas, early drawings etc. Links under Experiments are to experiments off the site.
Account Settings
Your account is accessed by click your username in the user controls on the top of the page. You can edit different info about yourself: your email, website, picture (avatar), and other info. To edit go to "Manage" under "Account" on the sidebar. You can then edit your info by clicking "Edit". If you already have a picture when you click edit and you want to keep it, just leave picture blank. Then click "Save" when you are done. You can also change your password below the account info box.
Account Actions
You can delete your account at any time by clicking "Delete" under "Account" in the sidebar. A password is required, if it is wrong it will log you out. WARNING: all posts and comments will then be deleted, you can not undo this.
Creating and Editing Content

Enabling sections and creating new

When you go to add something to a section (Blogs, Games etc.) in your account that you haven't before you will have to enable it, which will create a new post entitled "New :Name of section:". Then you can edit that post which will be the first post in that section. After you have enabled a section you can simply add new post by clicking "New."

Blogs

To add/edit a blog go to "Blogs" under "Create/Edit." To create a new blog, click new. Then fill in the title, picture (Picture will be used on main section page, if not specified User Picture will be used)(it will also be resized), your Message and the Tag. Then click "Insert".

To edit a post go to the selected post by the paging buttons and then click "Edit". Then when you are done click "Update"

Tutorials

To add/edit a tutorial go to "Tutorials" under "Create/Edit." To create a new tutorial, click new. Then fill in the title, picture (Picture will be used on main section page, if not specified User Picture will be used)(it will also be resized), your Message, Source File (or example file that can be downloaded) and the Tag. Then click "Insert".

To edit a tutorial go to the selected post by the paging buttons and then click "Edit". Then when you are done click "Update"

Media

To add/edit media go to "Media" under "Create/Edit." To create new media, click new. Then fill in the title, picture (Picture will be used on main section page, if not specified User Picture will be used)(it will also be resized), the type, the tag (the tag should change depending on the type of media selected), your Message, and File (the file of art/media). Then click "Insert". *Add type/tag info before the message otherwise the message might be deleted

To edit media go to the selected post by the paging buttons and then click "Edit". Then when you are done click "Update"

Games

To add/edit a game go to "Games" under "Create/Edit." To create a new game, click new. Then fill in the title, picture (Picture will be used on main section page, if not specified User Picture will be used)(it will also be resized), your Message, Game file and the Tag. Then click "Insert".

To edit a game go to the selected post by the paging buttons and then click "Edit". Then when you are done click "Update"

Experiments

To add/edit a experiment go to "Experiments" under "Create/Edit." To create a new experiment, click new. Then fill in the title, picture (Picture will be used on main section page, if not specified User Picture will be used)(it will also be resized), your Message, Experiment file and the Tag. Then click "Insert".

To edit a experiment go to the selected post by the paging buttons and then click "Edit". Then when you are done click "Update"

Links

To add/edit links go to "Links" under "Create/Edit." To create new link, click new. Then fill in the title, picture (Picture will be used on main section page, if not specified User Picture will be used)(it will also be resized), Link to the page, your Message, the type and the tag (the tag should change depending on the type selected). Then click "Insert". *The link will go under "Internet" in the page containing the type selected, check types under Pages

To edit links go to the selected post by the paging buttons and then click "Edit". Then when you are done click "Update"
